Valentine's Day showers & much warmer Thursday

Wednesday Afternoon Outlook

A soggy weather pattern continues for Valentine's Day and even into the upcoming weekend. There will be some breaks in between and temperatures should also be quite warm for February.

A cloudy and mild day overall with temperatures in the upper 40s early, then upper 50s to lower 60s late day. While not an all day washout, there should be off and on showers. The better coverage locally could occur during the morning, then mainly scattered during the afternoon. Overall rainfall amounts should remain light with 0.25" or less. Same weather pattern for Wednesday Night with off and on light showers, otherwise cloudy with an overnight low holding steady in the mid/upper 50s.

The best chance for scattered showers Thursday should be early, then cloudy to a mix of clouds and sun through the afternoon. That break in the showers along with a strengthening southerly flow should boost afternoon temperatures into the mid/upper 60s locally. A few spots could reach around 70! The normal high for mid February is 55.

An approaching cold front should bring showers back to the Tennessee Valley Friday Afternoon. The day should begin cloudy with a gradual increase in coverage of showers during the afternoon and evening. Not quite as warm Friday as it was Thursday with high temperatures in the lower 60s.

The cold front from Friday should move through our viewing area Friday Night, but showers could linger for most of the day Saturday due to the slow movement of the front. So, it looks like we could have a wet start to the weekend again. It should also be much, much cooler as temperatures during the afternoon should remain in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

It looks like Sunday could be drier and a little warmer with just a slight chance for showers and afternoon highs in the upper 50s. Mid 60s could return for early next week!

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
