Rain returns Thursday

Thursday Morning Outlook

The 3 day rainfall total at Lovell Field from Sunday through Tuesday was 3.39". That puts our monthly rainfall total over 3 inches above average. And, our yearly rainfall total so far is currently around 2 inches above average.

A quick moving area of low pressure should bring rain back to the Tennessee Valley. A cloudy start Thursday with temperatures early in the 50s. Rain moves in through the morning. Then, an even better coverage of rain through the afternoon. We will be keeping an eye on the potential for any thunderstorms. Right now it appears that the better chance of any storms could be to our south into Georgia. The severe threat remains low at this time. But, the rain that should continue into Thursday Night could produce between 0.50" to 1.00" across our viewing area.

With an already saturated ground, even this 0.50" to 1.00" of rain could cause excessive runoff and some minor flooding. So, please be careful travelling Thursday and Thursday Night.

Showers should taper off into early Friday.

The start of a prolonged dry spell should happen this weekend. A partly sunny sky both days with cool mornings in the 40s and afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s.

We will turn the calendar to May next week and it will actually feel like it! After a cool and wet April, the first few days of May should be dry with afternoon highs around 80 from Tuesday through Thursday.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
