Weekend washout: More rainy days ahead
Enjoy the sun and milder temperatures Friday as another round of rain returns for the weekend
DRY AND SEASONAL THROUGH FRIDAY
A fair sky and chilly again by Friday morning with temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Sunny for most of the day, then some clouds through late afternoon. A milder afternoon as temperatures should top out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. The nice and mild end to the work week should give way to a soggy weekend. In fact, the first round of showers should arrive late Friday Night.
Gulf moisture streams back in for the weekend in the form of off and on showers through the day Saturday. A wet, but mild day with afternoon highs in the upper 50s, Periods of rain should continue through Sunday (and even some thundershowers) and still mild with highs in the upper 50s to near 60. The weekend round of rain could provide between 2"-3" of rainfall. If you add that to the 1" that we received on Wednesday, then the total for the two rain events could be near the 4" mark. We have been in a Moderate to Severe Drought, so this rainfall could really help us out in that category. But, getting a lot of rain in a short period of time means that there could be some flooding concerns.
MORE RAIN NEXT WEEK
We could continue to gain ground on the yearly and seasonal rainfall deficit by early next week. It is possible that another round of rain locally could return late next Tuesday and into Wednesday. Early forecast model projections show the possibility of an additional 0.50" to 0.75".
While the weather pattern will be wet, it will also be warm as high temperatures could still be in the 60s through the first half of next week. Winter will be on hold for now, but it's not over yet!
As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
