Colder temperatures returning & watching some late week weather makers

Tuesday Morning Temperatures

A wintry chill returns for Tuesday Morning with a few more cold snaps along the way as we head into February. We'll also keep an eye on a few systems that could provide parts of the viewing area with a chance of wintry precipitation.

COLDER MORNINGS AHEAD

Monday had high temperatures in Chattanooga near 60. But, Tuesday will be much colder with temperatures in the mid/upper 20s to start the day. Afternoon highs should range from the upper 30s (local mountains) to lower 40s (valley). Quite cold again Wednesday Morning with low temperatures in the low/mid 20s. After the chilly start, it should be a little milder Wednesday Afternoon with highs in the lower 50s as a southerly flow returns.

NEXT WEATHER MAKER THURSDAY

Increasing cloud Thursday and temperatures again reaching the lower 50s. Some light showers could move in late day. But, a better coverage of light showers Thursday Night. As colder air attempts to move in late Thursday Night, some precipitation could remain. Therefore, there is the chance that the rain could become a wintry mix at higher elevations overnight Most valley locations mainly light rain.. Any remaining precipitation should exit early Friday Morning. Temperatures by sunrise could be at or below freezing. So, we'll keep an eye in this pattern and keep you updated on this. The rest of Friday looks dry and chilly with highs in the low 40s.

POSSIBLE WINTRY WEATHER EARLY SUNDAY

The start of the weekend looks dry and chilly with mid 20s Saturday Morning. Then, a mix of clouds and sun during the afternoon and highs in the mid/upper 40s. Gulf moisture could begin to move back in late Saturday Night and through Sunday Morning. If that occurs, temperatures could still be around the freezing mark. So, there is the possibility that this precipitation could begin as a wintry mix during the predawn hours of Sunday and through midday. Through the afternoon, valley temperatures could reach the lower 40s, so mainly rain then.

So, we'll keep an eye on this system as well and provide updates in the days ahead!

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team!
