Bill Race

Senior Meteorologist Bill Race is a familiar face in the Tennessee Valley. He’s been part of the StormTrack 9 Team for more than 30 years and can currently be seen providing weekend weather reports for NewsChannel 9.

Bill grew up in St. Louis and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from St. Louis University.

He joined NewsChannel 9 in 1987 and has earned the AMS Television Seal Of Approval, which requires a high level of expertise and is the gold standard designation of the American Meteorological Society.

When he’s not on television, Bill enjoys life with his wife Kimberly George Race and their fur babies Sugar, Lili, Oreo and the infamous Jerry the cat. He enjoys connecting with the community through social media and encourages folks to like his facebook and instagram pages. He’s a history buff and enjoys true rock and roll (think Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins).

True to his giving nature, Bill gives his time and effort to multiple community service and fundraising projects, but his true calling is weather. “Weather is a passion for me. It has been so important throughout my life and I really hope that shows as I do my best to help our viewers be prepared and safe of what’s coming our way.”
