Revenge is sweet for Bulldogs with SEC Championship victory over Auburn

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated Auburn 28-7 to win the SEC Championship and a probable spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the 2017 SEC Champions after defeating Auburn 28-7.

NewsChannel 9's Sports Director, Dave Staley spent the day in Atlanta at the game.

Here's a look at some of the action:

The Tigers scored on their opening drive, but would not score again.

The Bulldogs established their game plan: a suffocating defense coupled with a balanced offense.

Freshman quarterback Jake Fromm was solid, 16 of 22 for 183 yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia had 421 yards to Auburn's 259.

The victory not only gives second year coach Kirby Smart a conference championship, but also most assuredly punches the Dawgs ticket into the College Football Playoff.

Georgia avenged its humiliating 40-17 loss to Auburn at Jordan Hare Stadium on November 11.

The final College Football Playoff bracket comes out Sunday night.

NewsChannel 9 Sports Director Dave Staley was at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the SEC Championship.

He will have a full report on Fox Chattanooga at 10:00 pm and NewsChannel 9 at 11:00 pm.
