Time for hunters to apply for sandhill crane hunting in Tennessee

Tens of thousands of sandhill cranes often winter on the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs County (where no hunting is allowed). The counties surrounding the refuge used to be the only area where hunters were routinely successful. However in recent years, as the population expands and migration corriders shift, more and more hunters all across Tennessee are finding success. (Photo: Richard Simms)
