San Antonio woman celebrates 110th birthday, daughter credits spicy foods

SAN ANTONIO — (SBG SAN ANTONIO) -- How often do you hear of someone turning 110 years old? Not very often!

Maria Lopez celebrated her 110th birthday with family at Mya's Tex-Mex Cafe on Saturday. Lopez has one daughter, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

So what's her secret to living such a long, fulfilling life? Her family said it's what she eats.

"I think they can all vouch for her. She always has a lot of chili on her food. A lot of hot pepper. Even when I was small, I remember having hot sauce on the hamburgers and hot dogs. So I think that's what that is," Maria's daughter Rosemary Galvan said.
