A 25-year-old Soddy-Daisy woman faces several charges after police there say she threatened to harm an officer's children during her arrest, and also tried to headbutt him, according to a police affidavit.

Kayla Marie Hood is charged with destruction of government property, disorderly conduct, retaliation for past acts, assault on police, vandalism and resisting arrest.

An affidavit obtained by NewsChannel 9 says the incident happened on Saturday at a home on the 11,000 block of Hixson Pike.

Hood's mother had called 911, saying she was in her house and throwing items. She told arriving officers that she and her daughter had an argument that had escalated out of control.

The affidavit says the officer could hear items being thrown inside the house from the driveway. It says Kayla Hood then walked outside and began yelling profanities at her mother.

The officer says he tried to calm her down but she was "out of control" and would not listen to him. He says she then began throwing and kicking pieces of property in her mother's front yard, and causing such a commotion that nearby neighbors were walking out of their homes to see the commotion.

The officer tried to arrest Hood. During that attempt, the affidavit says she "pulled away and began physically resisting arrest by rolling her arms up toward her torso and pulling away from me."

The affidavit says Hood's mother pointed out three dents in her trailer that she said her daughter caused. The property manager, who was by then on the scene, requested Hood be prosecuted for vandalism.

The affidavit says while Hood was in the patrol car, she began slamming her head against the window. While the officer was trying to further restrict her movements by putting her seatbelt on, the affidavit quotes the officer saying she "aggressively thrusted her head toward my head in an attempt to head butt me."

The affidavit says on the way to be booked, Hood told the officer "since I was taking her kids away from her, she was going to 'kill' my kids." The officer's account continues: "Kayla kept repeated [sic] "Your kids are dead."

The affidavit says at the Soddy-Daisy Police Department, Hood began beating her head against the wall of the booking room, which "caused a large dent in the sheetrock," according to the affidavit.

The affidavit says Hood repeated her threat against the officer's children, promising to "kill" her kids.

At the Hamilton County Jail and before a magistrate, the affidavit says Hood once again repeated her intention to "kill" the officer's children, and also threatened to "put a bullet" in his head.

She was then booked in the Hamilton County Jail.
