An ambulance rushed a driver to the hospital early Tuesday morning after police in Soddy-Daisy say a driver going the wrong way on Highway 111 hit them head-on.

The accident happened just before 6 a.m. on Highway 111, near the Dayton Pike off-ramp and Highway 27.

Captain Jeff Gann of the Soddy-Daisy Police Department says officers are still trying to figure out exactly where the driver got on the wrong side of the road in the moments leading up to the crash.

Crews called a Lifeforce helicopter to the scene, but an ambulance ended up taking the unidentified patient to the hospital.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of Highway 111 for a brief time, but the road is once again back open to drivers.

This is a developing story. Depend on NewsChannel 9 to bring you updates as we get them.
