Volunteers walk all adoptable dogs at McKamey

Every dog on McKamey's adoption floor got to go out and have some fun.

McKamey Animal Center was noticeably empty this morning.

That's because their animals were enjoying some time out thanks to a slew of volunteers.

Front Runner Athletics organized the group walk Saturday.

Dogs were paired with volunteers who matched their fitness levels and then taken out to Greenway Farms for some exercise.

In addition to getting the dogs out of the kennels, it also provides McKamey with information about the animals for potential adopters.

"It gives us a lot of insight into the dog as far as how they are in the car, how they do when they're meeting kids or strangers. What they do when they hear a plane go by. Things we just can't find out here at the shelter," says Katie Christie, animal care and placement coordinator.

The shelter wants to do another group walk soon. They're hoping to make it a regular event.
