Firefighters in Chattanooga spent the evening of the hottest day of the year so far battling a fire at a vacant home on Germantown Road.

CFD says firefighters were called to 223 Germantown Road a little before 7 p.m.

Battalion 2 arrived on the scene and reported that there was smoke and fire visible from the rear of the house.

Due to the high heat, CFD requested an additional company, which brought a total of seven fire companies to the scene. Firefighters attacked the fire aggressively and brought it under control quickly. No one was hurt.

They called a fire investigator to the scene. CFD says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The damage to the house is estimated at $80,000.
