UPDATE: I-24 eastbound reopened in Marion County after semi-truck accident Monday

UPDATE (5:45 p.m.):

TDOT has reopened both lanes of eastbound traffic on I-24 after a crash involving a semi-truck Monday afternoon.

The crash happened near the Georgia/Tennessee line in Marion County. TDOT says to expect delays as traffic resumes.

We do not yet know of any injuries in this incident.


ORIGINAL STORY:

Drivers in Marion County may want to avoid the interstate for the time being as crews work to clear a semi-truck wreck Monday afternoon.

It happened on Interstate 24 eastbound at Mile Marker 166 near the I-59 split.

Police on the scene told out crews that a semi-truck driver lost control and hit a guardrail, flipping on its top off the road.

Crews are still working to pull the truck up. Police say the right lane will be blocked for several more hours.

We do not yet have any word of injuries in the crash.
