Residents of Walden, Tennessee are getting closer to getting a new grocery store.

Walden's mayor says the $15 million proposal passed 2-1 on its first reading Tuesday night.

The site of the proposed new store in Walden is on Timesville Road, and is about one mile from the Pruett’s grocery store in Signal Mountain.

The community is divided on the proposal. The new store could be considered very useful to some, but others say they aren't happy about what that new development could bring with it.

The second reading will be at the end of this month.
