The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) teamed up to help people affected by Hurricane Michael.

Two big tractor trailers made it to Panama City Beach, Florida on Monday.

The two trailers are loaded with school supplies, cleaning supplies, blankets, and canned good items.

The THP received so much support from the community they had to change their initial plan of just one trailer.

Sergeant Alan Bailey says it's important to help others, even if the hurricanes are long gone.

"A lot of people want to help out right after the emergency happens, when it's fresh on everybody's mind. What we fail to remember is these communities 2 or 3 months later still need help," says Sgt. Bailey.

THP met up with Florida Highway Patrol at the border.

Authorities will hand out the supplies on Tuesday.
