NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Gateway Funeral Home in Clarksville will help honor an Air Force Veteran to be laid to rest with no family or friends in Nashville on Thursday.

The veteran had recently lived at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville and passed away at Tennova Healthcare. Gateway Funeral Home & Cremation has tried to locate family, with no success, meaning this veteran will not have family or friends present during his funeral.

In response, Gateway Funeral Home says they are covering all costs associated with the funeral and he will receive military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Patriot Guard.

"While we do not know the story behind this individual or the events that brought him to this ending of his life, we do know that he served his country and he deserves an honorable burial," the home states.

The veteran is slated to be buried in Nashville at the Middle Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery on Thursday, September 19th at 11 a.m.

The notice from Gateway Funeral Home & Cremation Center has led many Tennesseans to re-post it on social media pages in an effort to attend the services and honor the veteran.
