The father of a 5-year-old boy who was reported missing in middle Tennessee has been charged with his murder.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Joseph Ray Daniels is in custody and charged with criminal homicide Saturday morning.

Agents say he is believed to have killed his five-year-old child Joe Clyde Daniels and hid the body several days ago.

The five-year-old was first reported missing Tuesday night.

Several law enforcement agencies, search and rescue organizations, and citizen volunteers began an exhaustive search in the area around his home.

The TBI says on Friday April 6, at the request of 23rd District Attorney, agents opened an investigation into criminal conduct.

During the course of the investigation, and after a three-day search, agents determined that Joseph Daniels, intentionally killed his son sometime between April 3-4, in their home and then hid his son’s body.

The TBI says the search will continue for Joe Clyde's body over the weekend.

Daniels was booked into the Dickson County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
