UPDATE (Monday 4:20pm):
Athens police and the father of missing McMinn County teen Devin Hester confirm she has turned herself in to authorities Monday.
Athens police say she is a suspect in an attempted robbery Sunday morning in which a clerk being shot and sent to the hospital.
In an interview, Athens police say they are not sure of the locations of other suspects in the shooting.
Detective Fred Schultz with Athens PD said that Devin is tired, but cooperative. Charges are pending against the teenager.
Schultz said in the interview that one of Devin's picked her up in Madisonville, and brought her to the police station.
NewsChannel 9's Alex George spoke with Devin's parents earlier. They told us that she had an even bigger problem, and tried to get her help.
"Never expected it our of her," says Brian Hester, Devin's father, "She's seen too many people ruin their lives with meth."
When Devin "Skye" Hester ran away in February, her parents found out what may have led to her decision, and immediately sought help.
"It was drugs, meth, and marijuana," says Nikki Walker, Devon's mom, "We got her in rehab. She was doing good - she got her diploma, had it together, we thought."
But when they suspected she might need to go get help, just last week she ran away again.
Now, police say she's a suspect in the armed robbery that happened in Athens.
Detective Schultz says, "At first we weren't sure how much active involvement she had, but it appears now she had some kind of involvement."
Devin's parents say they don't recognize the girl she's become.
"She wasn't raised like this at all," says Brian.
"Drugs are involved for sure," says Nikki, "That's definitely what's got her in the frame of mind that she is in."
They say she is just a kid, and they want to try to bring back the daughter they know and love.
"I dont want her to get hurt," says Nikki, "We love her very much. We want her home."
Detective Schultz says Devin's parents are cooperating with their investigation.
Police believe the men she was with are still on the run, and considered armed and dangerous.
