Suspect in attempted murder on O'Neal Street now charged in 2017 homicide on same street

A man is in Hamilton County Jail, charged in an attempted murder and a homicide on the same street - two incidents nearly a year apart.

On June 15, 2017, Chattanooga police responded to the 100 block of O'Neal Street after reports of a shooting.

Once there, they found 39-year-old Shandar Lamar Weaver (aka Shalone Wingate) suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

Hamilton County EMS rushed Weaver to the hospital in critical condition. He later died of his injuries.

The investigation lasted into 2018.

On April 30th, another person ended up in the hospital after a shooting on the 100 block of O'Neal Street.

Then, on Thursday, August 9th, police arrested 27-year-old Anthony Broome II and charged him in the April 30th shooting.

Chattanooga police have charged Broome with criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony in addition to the charges he faces from the April 2018 shooting.
