Spring begins with the return of colder air
Spring officially began at 12:15pmET Tuesday. But, just as the new season begins, the previous season wants to stick around!
Colder Tuesday Night as showers could become snow showers at the higher elevations of the Plateau and Blue Ridge Mtns. Some light accumulation is possible at those higher spots during the night, most significant at the higher terrain of the Blue Ridge Mtns, Cherohala Skyway and Smoky Mountains. We'll be keeping an eye on that for our higher elevated areas! Even in the valley don't be surprised to see some flurries flying around.
Wednesday looks chilly and breezy. Any remaining flurries and mountain snow showers should end during the morning and early afternoon. The rest of the day with more clouds than sun, but afternoon temperatures only reaching the upper 40s. The risk of a freeze is possible by Thursday Morning with temperatures near the freezing mark. And, even again Friday Morning for areas outside the city with mid 30s.
A warming trend with 60s returning by late week and into the weekend. However, rain could return for the weekend as well.
