Update: Man who died in fiery crash in Sale Creek identified

UPDATE (Friday):

On Friday, authorities identified the victim as 84-year-old David Sizemore.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.

PREVIOUSLY:

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says a man has died after a crash in Sale Creek Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Dayton Pike and Rock Creek Road.

According sheriff's office spokesman Matt Lea, preliminary information shows an older gentleman was driving north on Dayton Pike when he ran off road and hit a bridge abutment. Then, the car caught fire.

Lea says emergency crews pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The sheriff's office has not yet identified the victim, as next of kin have yet to be notified.

HCSO Traffic Division investigators are still looking into what caused the crash.
