Shaw Industries closing plant in Chatsworth, affecting hundreds of employees
Shaw Industries has announced they are closing a plant in Chatsworth, Georgia, affecting the jobs of hundreds of employees.
According to the Department of Labor, 260 employees will be impacted.
In a release, the company says by June 2019, it will end production at Plant 84, a twist and heatset yarn facility. Production will be shifted to facilities "with a broader range of capabilities that perform similar operations."
The company says employees will have a chance to apply for positions at its other locations, which include more than 65 manufacturing facilities across Northwest Georgia.
“The associates at Plant 84 have been instrumental in creating exceptional quality products. As the consolidation process begins, Shaw’s human resources team will assist them with internal job opportunities and one-on-one consultations with Shaw’s talent management team,” says Mark Hartline, senior director of human resources at Shaw.
“Supporting associates during this transition is our highest priority.”
