School representatives attend 2nd annual Green Schools Summit to promote conservation

Representatives from schools across the NewsChannel 9 viewing area met on Wednesday to discuss ways to be more environmentally friendly.

The Green Schools Summit works to promote activities, like energy conservation and recycling to younger students.

Speakers at today's event shared ideas on how to save power and promote health in the classroom.

One of the speakers, Dawn Hjelseth, said "We know with working with kids they want the be recycling, they want to be in the outdoors learning, they want to have those experiences, so this gives us the opportunity to showcase what is happening around the region that schools around here can adopt to have."

All the schools that participated received a chance to win money to go towards green-projects.

There were four mini-grants totaling $500 each.
