Salvation Army hands out bottled water to community during heat wave
During this heat wave, the Salvation Army is doing its part to keep people cool in the dangerous temperatures.
“Everyone deserves water on a day like this. It’s just so hot,” said student volunteer Brittany Fisher.
Rewind a half hour before our interview to where the water is loaded up at the Salvation Army on McCallie Avenue.
From there, our crew hopped inside and took a ride, as Fisher and Major Robert Lyle drove around town, handing out bottled water to the community.
While Fisher and spokesperson Kimberly George say that the heat gets to them too, they’re fortunate to be able to give back.
“Keeping folks hydrated in the downtown area, especially our homeless population, who has to be out in this heat,” said George.
George says they are still in need of donations.
You can drop them off to any of the Salvation Army’s locations around Chattanooga.
