CLEVELAND, Tenn — Several fire crews in Bradley County worked hard to contain a fire at a roofing business in Cleveland Monday morning.
Bradley County Fire Rescue officials say crews responded just after 7 a.m. to Affordable Roofing on Waterlevel Highway.
Arriving firefighters spotted heavy smoke coming from the building. Fire crews tell us the fire was inside the building but glass started breaking out front.
As the flames increased, fire trucks, police cars, and an ambulance arrived on the scene to help.
Alex Ward is a business owner who is in the same shopping center as Affordable Roofing. He says he went to the other businesses in the shopping center and warned them about the situation right after he saw the smoke. This shopping center also included a daycare, and he told them to keep the kids inside.
Fire crews say the fire took 45 minutes to get under control and put out.
No one was in the building and no one was hurt.
The shopping center remains taped off as of 10:45 a.m. while the investigation continues.
Mark Abbott is the owner of Affordable Roofing and he told us that the fire destroyed the front offices. He says this included office supplies, paperwork, computers and other miscellaneous items. Abbott says that the warehouse in the back is fine - which is where most of the equipment was stored.
Investigators are still not sure what exactly started the fire, and are trying to pull information from the surveillance cameras.
Depend on us to keep you posted.
