Robbery suspect leads police on dangerous chase

Chattanooga Police say a robbery suspect led officers on a dangerous chase Sunday night before barricading himself in a home on the 500 block of N. Hawthorne st.

According to CPD Captain Jerri Sutton, an officer spotted a robbery suspect in his car early Sunday evening and proceeded to engage him.

Police say that's when the suspect took off with Chattanooga Police officers in pursuit.

Sutton says three Chattanooga Police cars and a resident crashed during the chase.

No one was seriously injured.

Captain Sutton told our crew on the scene that when the suspect arrived at the 500 block of N. Hawthorne street, he ditched his vehicle and ran on foot into a home with a woman inside.

According to police, the suspect surrendered peacefully after speaking with a negotiator.

The woman inside the home was not injured.

Chattanooga Police are now investigating the incident.

No details have been released on the original robbery at this point.

The name of the suspect and the woman inside the home have also not been released.
