Signal Mountain firefighters rescued a dog Saturday afternoon after it fell off a bluff.

Firefighters responded to North Palisades Drive on Signal Mountain Saturday afternoon.

The dog's owner told them the dog saw an animal in the distance, took off running and jumped the wall.

The dog fell 40 feet down the bluff.

Firefighters set up ropes to repel down to the dog. They were able to get the 84 pound Golden Lab in a rescue harness and pull it to safety within 20 minutes.

The dog was not hurt, and Hamilton County EMS says the owner was incredibly grateful for the rescuers efforts saving his dog's life.
