A former Walker County elementary teacher now living in Muscle Shoals, Alabama is under arrest after police say he made child porn, according to reports by both our ABC affiliate station WAAY in Huntsville, Alabama and the Walker County Messenger.

Watch WAAY's report here.

NewsChannel 9 reported in May 2016 that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) assisted the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in an investigation into Charles Mark McCormack, who was at that time a teacher at Chattanooga Valley Elementary School in Flintstone. McCormack was employed as a kindergarten and pre-K teacher, according to the school's website. He was later let go.

The U.S. Department of Justice says agents arrested the 54-year-old McCormack on Wednesday on a federal criminal complaint charging him with producing child pornography.

According to the complaint affidavit, between Aug. 1, 1997, and Oct. 15, 1998, Charles Mark McCormack used a minor, born in or about 1992, to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography, by surreptitiously videotaping the minor urinating in a bathroom in his residence.

The Department of Justice says this investigation is a part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
