Red Bank Elementary mourns loss of teacher
In a Facebook post posted on Sunday, Red Bank Elementary says the school is mourning the loss of a 29-year-old teacher.
The post says,
"In Remembrance of Danielle McBath
2/26/1989 – 9/22/2018
Danielle McBath, a compassionate and valued member of our school, died Saturday. From Dyersburg, Tennessee, Danielle spent her adult life in early childhood education where she will be remembered for her compassionate and sweet demeanor. Danielle brought her huge heart from Lakeside Academy to Red Bank Elementary this school year. She bonded quickly with our staff and connected easily with her first grade students as she was known for having an individualized handshake, high five or greeting for each of her students. Danielle laughed readily and took on adventures ranging from STEM education to skydiving. Her classroom has been decorated with clouds as she encouraged her students to ponder “oh, the places you’ll go!”
Tim Hensley of Hamilton County Schools tells NewsChannel 9 this was McBath's first year at Red Bank Elementary, after teaching at Lakeside Academy of Math & Technology. He says McBath succumbed to a "sudden illness" over the weekend, & that her death was unexpected.
Hensley says counselors will be on hand at both Red Bank Elementary and Lakeside Academy on Monday for anyone who needs them.
This is the second local teacher to die in the past 48 hours. On Saturday, a crash on Highway 58 killed 64-year-old Karen Saxton, who was a teacher at Westview Elementary.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
