Probation officer in Grundy County charged with official misconduct
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) says a probation officer in Grundy County has been indicted and arrested on charges of official misconduct.
The investigation began back in July, when TBI agents began looking into the actions of 38-year-old Tara Van Hooser-Prater of Altamont, who was a probation officer with the State of Tennessee.
During the course of the investigation, TBI agents learned that from May through July, Van Hooser-Prater had engaged in a physical relationship with a probationer who was on active probation in Grundy County.
On Tuesday, the Grundy County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Van Hooser-Prater with two counts of official misconduct.
Deputies arrested Van Hooser-Prater on Wednesday, and booked into the Grundy County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
