Police in East Tennessee have arrested a Ringgold man accused of kidnapping a child late Wednesday night.

Around 10 p.m., officers with the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) responded to a kidnapping that happened on Princeton Street.

Investigators say 64-year-old James Cranfield had lured a child he didn't know into getting into his car, and then took the child to several businesses in the city.

Police say Cranfield also took the child to his hotel in the Boones Creek neighborhood before later returning them to the location on Princeton Street.

On Thursday, police made contact with Cranfield at the Quality Inn at 119 Pinnacle Drive, and took him into custody.

Investigators say Cranfield gave them permission to search his mobile devices, and when they did they found two pictures of child porn on one of the devices. Police say the kidnapping victim was not in these pictures.

James Cranfield has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was booked into Washington County Detention Center on a $57,500 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
