Ooltewah home collapses in flames

A family in Ooltewah is looking for a new home, but are thankfully still alive after a fire destroyed their house.

According to Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, a 9-11 call was made at 4:20 P.M. reporting a house fire at 6430 Paw Paw Trail.

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, Highway 58 VFD, and Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the call and saw flames bursting through the roof.

According to Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management, firefighters confirmed everyone was out of the building before trying to put out the fire from the inside.

Moments later, firefighters evacuated the building because the roof was unstable. They continued to fight the fires from a safe distance.

Tri-Community Asst. Chief Danny Hague says the house is a total loss with damages estimated at $350,000. The cause of the fire is unclear, and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries were reported by Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management .
