Chattanooga PD: Driver, 2 others now in custody after deadly crash on S. Holtzclaw Avenue

UPDATE (Tuesday, January 15):

Chattanooga Police say the man responsible for a crash that killed two people and critically injuring a third person is now in custody.

On Tuesday, CPD says U.S. Marshals arrested Dwight Turner Jr. in Atlanta.

Sara Ashlee Meredith was also arrested - officers say she was a passenger in the car Turner was driving that night, and fled the scene.

Dwight Turner Jr. has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, as well as aggravated assault.

Sara Ashlee Meredith and Hailee Freedom Hicks - who police arrested last week - both face charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury.

Turner and Meredith will be transported to the Hamilton County Jail.

Court documents show an arrest has been made in the deadly crash on South Holtzclaw Avenue.

Documents show 22 year old Hailee Hicks was a passenger in the Dodge Ram that hit a van on January 3rd.

Hicks is now charged with leaving scene accident death or personal injury and failure to render aid.

UPDATE (Monday, January 7):

Chattanooga Police are asking for your help to find a suspect in last week's deadly crash on South Holtzclaw Avenue.

CPD says Dwight Turner Jr. was the driver in the crash, killing two people and critically injuring another.

Turner is 26 years old, is 5'11" and weighs about 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.

UPDATE (Friday, January 4):

Chattanooga Police say two people were killed in a crash Thursday night, and the driver who caused it ran away.

It happened on South Holtzclaw Avenue near East Main Street around 9:30 p.m.

The press release says two cars collided at the intersection, killing 41-year-old Lorenzo Jarret Jr. and 38-year-old Mechele Lane. Police say the driver of that vehicle, Melvin Tibbs, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

According to police, three of the four people in the car that caused the crash ran from the scene. A passenger in that car was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and was released.

Chattanooga Police confirm one person died during an accident in East Chattanooga Thursday night.

We're told it happened on S. Holtzclaw Ave and East Main Street.

Police tell us one other person was taken to the hospital.

No word on their condition or what caused the crash.
