Murphy High School principal charged with indecent liberties with student
Thomas Graham, principal at Murphy High School, has been suspended in response to allegations of misconduct.
That's according to a post on the Cherokee County Schools Facebook page.
The post says that Graham was suspended from school duties on January 26th.
As required by law, Graham's suspension is with pay.
Superintendent Dr. Jeana Conley tells us Graham was arrested Thursday.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's office says he's charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student.
The post says Jason Forrister has been acting as principal and will continue in that role as long as necessary.
The post goes on to say that Cherokee County Schools will continue to work with law enforcement, and that the school system conducts a thorough background investigation into potential employees during the pre-employment process.
