Man, woman sentenced in Hamilton County for robbing man who went to hotel for sex
A man and woman have been convicted and sentenced after tying up, stripping and robbing a man who police say went to a Chattanooga extended-stay hotel to have sex.
The Hamilton County District Attorney's office said on Wednesday, Derrian Hill was sentenced in criminal court to serve 12 years in prison for the April 2018 incident.
In the Facebook post, the DA's office said on April 27, 2018, a man went to the InTown Suites on Lee Highway to have sex with a woman he knew.
But what that man didn't know was that it was a trick.
The DA's office says when the man arrived he found a different woman, Miranda Marley, and Derrian Hill sprung out of a closet, robbing the man of his wallet, credit cards and his vehicle.
Officials say the man was stripped from the waist down, tied up, and shoved into the closet. He was able to escape, however, and ran to a nearby Hampton Inn and called for help.
Assistant District Attorney Colin Campbell says Hill and Barley were found three weeks later in Tallahassee, Florida with the man's personal possessions.
On September 25, 2019, Derrian Hill was tried and convicted of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. He was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison.
Online court records show Miranda Barley also faced aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery charges, but those were dismissed, as the DA's office says Barley pled guilty on June 4, 2019 to Robbery, a Class C Felony. She was sentenced to three years, suspended after serving 11 months and 29 days in custody. After that she was to be on state supervised probation, drug and alcohol testing.
