UPDATE: Dalton man dies after being struck by lightning on July 4th

UPDATE (Monday):

A Dalton man who was struck by lightning on July 4th and rushed to the hospital has died.

Dalton Fire Chief Todd Pangle confirmed Egan Stanley passed away Sunday.

Pangle says a GoFundMe has been set up in support of the Stanley family.

In a public Facebook post, Egan's wife Kasonndra wrote "Forever would have never been enough."


PREVIOUSLY:

A man from Dalton was hospitalized after authorities say a lightning bolt struck him Wednesday afternoon.

Dalton Fire Chief Todd Pangle says it happened during a fishing tournament at the Dalton Golf and Country Club.

Pangle says the man was hit on the bank of a pond during brief thunderstorms.

He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The family of the man has identified him as Egan Stanley, and has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay his medical expenses.
