Man charged with sexual battery, solicitation of minor at East Ridge motel
East Ridge Police are charging a 28-year-old man after they say he solicited sexual acts from a minor at a motel in East Ridge.
Police say on Thursday officers responded to the Waverly Motel on McDonald Road to serve warrants on Marcus Lorenzo Thomas, Jr.
When they located Thomas in one of the rooms, they found a 16-year-old girl who told them Thomas had groped her against her will, and that she had told him to stop.
The girl also told officers Thomas offered her methamphetamine in exchange for oral sex. An affidavit says the girl told police she believed Thomas would have raped her if they had not arrived in time.
When Thomas was being booked, officers say they found 15 doses of heroin inside a cutout part of his jeans waistband.
Thomas faces several charges including sexual batter, solicitation of a minor, possession of heroin, and possession of marijuana.
He's now at the Hamilton County Jail on a $100,000 bond, and will appear in East Ridge Court on July 9th.
Just last month, the Waverly Motel was shut down for health and safety violations.
The business reopened days later with new rules and restrictions after the Hamilton County Health Department says it passed a second inspection.
