Man charged in Chattanooga with statutory rape of 15-year-old
Chattanooga Police are charging a man with the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Officers arrested 27-year-old Jamarko Lamar Langston on Friday.
An affidavit obtained by NewsChannel 9 says the incident happened on June 3rd.
Shortly before midnight, police were advised of a 'delayed rape' that happened at a home on Citico Avenue.
The affidavit says the victim told officers that "Marko," later identified as Langston, came inside her bedroom, shut the door and started kissing her. She told police Langston then pinned her down on her bed and forcefully raped her.
Police later spoke with Langston on the phone. Langston told the officer that she had already been confronted by the victim's father and boyfriend about the "incident," as he referred to it, according to the affidavit.
He also said he and the victim's boyfriend got into a fight about it.
The affidavit says the officer determined there was enough evidence to charge Langston.
Given the information provided by police in the affidavit, it's not clear at this time why Langston was charged with statutory rape and not rape.
Jamarko Langston is due in court on August 30.
