Man charged after falsely reporting TWRA officer impersonation while fishing (TWRA)

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said a man was charged after falsely reporting that someone impersonated a TWRA officer and confiscated the kayak he was using to fish.

James Stansberry was arrested and charged with theft and filing a false report.

TWRA said Stansberry reported on Sept. 24 that someone impersonating a TWRA officer confiscated a kayak he borrowed from his sister and was using to fish in Trousdale County.

However, TWRA agents said it was discovered that Stansberry actually pawned the kayak before making the false report.

He was arrested a few days later.

"The TWRA and other law enforcement agencies consider it a serious offense. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers can always be identified by their uniform, badge and truck marked with Tennessee Wildlife and Law Enforcement insignia," a news release said.
