Local sports enthusiast Stump Martin passes away
The Facebook page "Stump on Sports" reports that longtime sports enthusiast Stump Martin has passed away at the age of 64.
The post says, "It is with great sadness that we at Stump On Sports report that our boss, friend and mentor, Marvin “Stump” Martin has passed away. Please keep Deb and his family in your thoughts."
Martin covered sports in the Chattanooga area for decades, and served as a coach for several teams.
At the time of his death, he was serving Parks and Recreations Director for the city of East Ridge.
East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert tells NewsChannel 9, "This is a very sad day for all of us."
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
