'I love you' - Dispatcher takes her dad's final sign off call before he retires from CPD

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) - A special moment was recorded between a Chattanooga police officer and his daughter, a dispatcher.

Chattanooga Police Lt. Austin Garrett retired this week after 25 years with the department.

A video posted online shows the moment he signed off for the last time this week.

The dispatcher on the other end was his daughter, Haley Garrett.

The video has been viewed more than 260,000 times as of Sunday morning.

"Twenty five years of service, I'll be out of service the final time," Garrett said. "Be careful don't forget who you are."

Haley Garrett then thanked her dad for his decades of service by saying:

"You've been a mentor and great friend to many during your career. We all wish you well on your future endeavors. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I love you daddy."

Garrett's career in law enforcement will continue.

Monday morning he'll be sworn in as the chief deputy for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
