Home burns in Rossville Monday morning

No one was hurt, but fire destroyed a home in Rossville Monday morning, meaning the homeowner will have to spend the Christmas holiday season somewhere besides his home.

The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. at 352 North Jenkins Road.

Viewer Tiffany Casey shared a picture she took as the flames took over the house.

We're told the homeowner was home alone when the fire broke out. His smoke alarm woke him up, and he was able to get out of the home safely.

Firefighters on the scene tell us the home is a total loss.

They are still trying to figure out what caused the fire, but say they suspect a drop cord and space heater to be to blame.

The Southeast Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross is helping the man find a new place to live.

This story will be updated as we get new information.
