Hixson teens arrested with guns, drugs in Florida
The Lynn Haven Police Department posted on their Facebook page that a traffic stop by their officers ended with the arrest of two Hixson, Tennessee teens on felony drug and firearm charges.
On April 5, 2018, a sedan being driven by 19-year-old Hunter Alexander Ali was stopped for speeding.
During the course of the traffic stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle.
Police searched the vehicle and seized about 14 ounces of high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of approximately $6,000.00 and a loaded, Glock 9mm handgun.
Officers say a quantity of the marijuana was packaged as if for sale.
Electronic scales, which are commonly used in the distribution of illegal drugs, were also seized.
Firearms, such as the one seized in this case, are commonly used by drug dealers to protect their illicit assets.
It was further determined that Ali and 18-year-old passenger Sydney Ana Parrott had been in the Bay County area for spring break and were on the way back to Tennessee when arrested.
Police searched Hunter Alexander Ali, and found he had about 5 grams of marijuana hidden on his person.
In an interview with investigators, Parrott admitted that the remaining marijuana, the scales, and the firearm were hers.
Hunter Alexander Ali was cited for unlawful speed and criminally charged with possession of marijuana - less than 20 grams, a misdemeanor.
Sydney Ana Parrott was charged with felony possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Ali and Parrott were taken to the Bay County Jail, pending their first appearance before a local judge.
