Historic Loudon County Courthouse catches fire
The Loudon County Courthouse caught fire Tuesday evening, according to witnesses and the Lenoir City fire department.
WATE reports the fire department says it has a crew on scene, but would not initially confirm the severity.
The historical courthouse was built in 1872.
According to the National Registry of Historic Places, the courthouse was registered as a historic landmark in 1975.
The courthouse, located at 601 Grove St. near Mulberry Street, caught fire sometime Tuesday evening.
Loudon County Sheriff's Office is telling drivers to avoid the area due to road closures.
