Update: Victim, suspect identified in early morning shooting in Ooltewah

UPDATE (Thursday):

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says the victim in this shooting, John Dee Hayes, has died from his injuries.

HCSO Detectives have made the District Attorney’s Office aware. The District Attorney’s Office will determine charge modifications.

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.)

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says deputies have identified the victim, and made an arrest in the case.

They identify the victim as 24-year-old John Dee Hayes. Spokesman Matt Lea says Hayes remains at a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

21-year-old Tyler Reid is now at the Hamilton County Jail, and will face attempted first degree murder charges.

It happened around 2 a.m. on Heatherloch Lane.

According to a release, deputies detained one suspect.

The victim was taken to the hospital. His condition isn't known at this time.
