Siblings arrested as suspects in 2015 Soddy-Daisy murder case
Detectives with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office have made arrests in an October 2015 murder.
In a release, the sheriff's office says Timothy Stewart was killed on the 200 Block of Layne Road in Soddy-Daisy.
A release from the HCSO says detectives charged 35-year-old Randy Layne with criminal homicide. Randy Layne’s sister, 32-year-old Kattie Lynn Layne is charged with Abuse of Corpse and Criminal Responsibility for Facilitation of Criminal Homicide in connection with their involvement in the murder of Timothy Stewart.
According to an affidavit released by the HCSO, officers from the Soddy Daisy Police Department took a missing persons report for Timothy Stewart on October 15th, 2015.
On October 17th, a body later identified as Stewart was found at the bottom of a bluff in a wooded area at 250 Layne road.
The HCSO says the body seemed to have been there for several days, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Both individuals were taken into custody in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (FAST) without incident.
Randy Layne will be held on a $500,000 bond after being booked into the Hamilton County Jail. Kattie Lynn Layne’s bond is set at $20,000.
