Tuesdsay's workshop focused on education.
"It's about 61% of our budget so it's extremely important that we get it right," said Mayor Jim Coppinger, who led the session.
NewsChannel 9 streamed the hearing live on Facebook:
School board members voted to finalize the budget last week. 8 out of 9 members voted for the budget. Board member Rhonda Thurman voted against it.
The balanced budget totals $372 million.
In addition to that, the board is asking for $24 million more from the county using a priority list.
That list has 3 tiers.
The first tier is for $13 million - including things like art teachers, literacy programs, technology upgrades and more.
Commission Tim Boyd tells NewsChannel 9 he believes the high priority items have a low chance of passing.
"I was going through their priority list and making 'X' marks on it all during the presentation," Boyd said.
