Haircuts for the homeless: Cuts for Change comes to Chattanooga
Hair stylists from Chattanooga, Nashville and Atlanta all gathered in Miller Park Monday afternoon to give free haircuts to those in need.
Shanina Ramsey is a stylist at Southside Salon, and she organized the "Cuts for Change" event Monday afternoon.
Ramsey says they not only gave out free haircuts to homeless individuals, but hygiene products as well.
"It seems small, but when you get your hair done you just feel so much better, and you get a boost of confidence," says Ramsey. "People are constantly giving them things, but as far as service and conversation, they don't get that."
This is the first Cuts for Change event to be hosted in Chattanooga. Organizers say they hope to have one annually.
