Fort Oglethorpe PD arrests former teacher, accuses her of having sex with student
A former high school teacher from Catoosa County has been arrested, after police say she had an inappropriate relationship with one of her students.
In a statement, Fort Oglethorpe PD says two weeks ago, they began an investigation into Ashley M. Pritchett, a former teacher at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School.
Police accuse Pritchett of having sexual conduct with one of her students late last year.
On Friday, Pritchett was arrested at her Fort Oglethorpe home, and charged with sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority.
She was booked into Catoosa County Jail on no bond.
NewsChannel 9 obtained more information about the incident through an open records request, which revealed a concern was raised on November 8th, 2018. Catoosa County Public Schools (CCPS) contacted the Department of Family and Children's Services that same day.
CCPS told Pritchett about the investigation on November 12th. She resigned on November 19th, the last day of the fall semester.
CCPS filed a complaint with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission on January 30th of this year.
Fort Oglethorpe Police began their investigation on January 25th, and arrested Pritchett on February 1st.
