WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced Tuesday that Dr. Wayne Johnson will be the Chief Operating Officer of Federal Student Aid (FSA).
Prior to this position, Dr. Wayne Johnson was a finalist in the recent Hamilton County Superintendent search.
Dr. Wayne Johnson withdrew his name from consideration the day of the Hamilton School Board's vote for their pick.
Secretary DeVos says that Johnson "is the right person to modernize FSA for the 21st Century," having specific research focus in the area of student loan indebtedness decision-making.
"I look forward to accepting responsibility and accountability for the policies, actions and practices of FSA," says Johnson.
Federal Student Aid currently serves 42 million student loan clients and administers more than $1.4 trillion in current outstanding Federal Student Loan balances.
